CLEVELAND – Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael C. O’Malley announced that a Cuyahoga County grand jury has returned an indictment charging Shaniqua Menefee, 34, for the murder of a 35-year-old Cleveland man on June 25, 2023.

On June 25, 2023, the victim, 35, went to Shaniqua Menefee’s residence near East 155th Street and Talford Avenue in Cleveland. A verbal altercation ensued, and the victim left Menefee’s residence and began walking up the street. Menefee then started to follow the victim in her vehicle, and they continued arguing.

After a short time, near Glendale Avenue and East 155th Street, Menefee drove her car up onto the front lawn of a residence and ran over the victim. The victim was then trapped under the vehicle and began screaming for help. Menefee then attempted to reverse her vehicle but the vehicle remained stuck. She exited her vehicle and fled the scene on foot.

Eventually, Menefee called the police and the Cleveland Division of Police (CPD) and the Cleveland Division of Fire responded to the scene. The victim succumbed to his injuries before first responders arrived on scene and was later pronounced deceased. On June 29, Menefee was arrested by the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force.

The investigation was conducted by CPD’s Homicide Unit.

On July 6, 2023, Shaniqua Menefee was indicted on the following charges:

  • One count of Aggravated Murder
  • Two counts of Murder
  • Two counts of Felonious Assault

She will be arraigned at the Cuyahoga County Justice Center at a later date.
