CLEVELAND – Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael C. O’Malley announced that a Cuyahoga County grand jury has returned an indictment charging 20-year-old Derrek Dove with killing 56-year-old Antoine Latham while he was driving for Lyft in Cleveland.

“This was a cold and deliberate act of murder. Antoine Latham was killed while simply trying to earn a living. We will do everything in our power to seek justice for him and his family and to hold Derrek Dove accountable.”
– Prosecutor Michael C. O’Malley
On February 8, 2026, around 10 p.m., Antoine Latham picked up Derrek Dove, along with at least two unknown suspects, for a Lyft ride with a drop-off location in the area of East 102nd and Rosehill Avenue in Cleveland.
During the ride, the suspects intended to rob Antoine Latham and fired, shooting him in the head. Antoine Latham then crashed his vehicle into a guardrail in front of a residence near Rosehill Avenue and Woodhill Road. Derrek Dove and the unknown suspects then fled the scene. The Cleveland Division of Police (CDP) and Cleveland EMS responded to the scene. Antoine Latham was transferred to a nearby hospital and later pronounced deceased.
The investigation is being conducted by CDP and remains ongoing. Lyft records, phone records, and video surveillance linked Derrek Dove to the crime. If you have any information about this incident, please contact CDP Homicide at 216.623.5464.
At this time, there is no evidence linking this incident to the February 10, 2026, shooting of Lyft driver Vasyl Shvets.
On February 17, 2026, Derrek Dove was indicted on the following charges:
- One count of Aggravated Murder
- Two counts of Murder (Murder A and Murder B)
- Two counts of Aggravated Robbery (F1)
- Two counts of Felonious Assault (F2)
He will be arraigned at the Cuyahoga County Justice Center at a later date.
