CLEVELAND – Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael C. O’Malley announced that Ronald Loftis, 47, was sentenced to 51 to 56.5 years in prison for robbing two different women on the same day in Cleveland.

– Prosecutor Michael C. O’Malley

On January 2, 2026, around 7 a.m., Ronald Loftis, 47, approached a female victim, 28, who was waiting for a bus near West 25th and Clark Avenue in Cleveland. He demanded her belongings, pistol-whipped her, stole her phone, and then fled the scene.

Later that same day, Loftis approached another female victim, 38, who was brushing snow off her vehicle near Madison Avenue and West 79th Street in Cleveland. The victim’s 15-month-old son was inside the vehicle. Loftis threatened to kill the female victim, demanded her belongings, and ordered her to the ground at gunpoint. He then entered her vehicle. The female victim attempted to fight back and grab her son. Loftis fired his gun multiple times – one bullet in the air and another striking her in the face – and threw her son in the snow. He then fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle.

The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) Police Department used Flock cameras to identify Ronald Loftis within hours of the robbery at West 25th Street and Clark Avenue. The RTA Police Department worked with the Cleveland Division of Police (CDP), who located and arrested Loftis the following day. At the time of his arrest, CDP recovered the firearm and clothes used during the two incidents.

On June 18, 2026, Ronald Loftis was found guilty of the following charges:

  • Three counts of Aggravated Robbery
  • Four counts of Robbery
  • Three counts of Felonious Assault
  • One count of Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Career Criminal
  • One count of Having Weapons Under Disability
  • One count of Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle

He was sentenced to 51 to 56.5 years in prison.
