CLEVELAND – Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael C. O’Malley announced that a Cuyahoga County grand jury has returned an indictment charging Aaron Sharp, 24, for killing his 82-year-old grandfather, Charlie Roscoe, and his 22-year-old brother, Erik Sharp, as well as shooting and injuring two East Cleveland police officers.

On August 7, 2025, at approximately 10:56 p.m., the East Cleveland Police Department (ECPD) responded to a domestic dispute at a residence near Taylor Road and Terrace Road in East Cleveland. Upon their arrival, a family member stated Aaron Sharp had shot and killed two relatives and was outside holding a gun. Inside the residence, officers found Erik Sharp, deceased, and Charlie Roscoe with gunshot wounds. Two officers then went outside to locate Aaron Sharp. When Sharp saw them, he shot them, injuring both officers, and then fled the scene on foot.

East Cleveland EMS responded to the scene, and Charlie was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. The two East Cleveland police officers were also transported to a nearby hospital to be treated for their injuries.

ECPD, with assistance from the Euclid Police Department, Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office, Cleveland Division of Police, Cleveland Heights Police Department, Shaker Heights Police Department, Cleveland Metropolitan Housing Authority Police Department, University Circle Police Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol, SWAT, U.S. Marshals, Cleveland ATF, and Cleveland Secret Service conducted an overnight search for Sharp.

On August 8, 2025, around 8 a.m., the U.S. Marshals located Sharp near Shaw High School in East Cleveland and arrested him.

 

On August 19, 2025, Aaron Sharp was indicted on the following charges:

  • Two counts of Aggravated Murder
  • Four counts of Murder
  • Two counts of Attempted Aggravated Murder
  • Eight counts of Felonious Assault
  • Two counts of Tampering With Evidence

 

He will be arraigned at the Cuyahoga County Justice Center at a later date.
