CLEVELAND – Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael C. O’Malley announced that Robert Hocevar, 57, pleaded guilty to burglary, menacing by stalking, and telecommunications harassment among other charges for installing and accessing cameras and security systems in residences and businesses.

From February 2021 to January 2025, Robert Hocevar was contracted to do security and camera installation work for three businesses and two residences in Lakewood, Brecksville, Lyndhurst, Westlake, and Mayfield Heights. After installing the systems, he would keep login information and passwords and access the systems without consent.

Hocevar would use this access to contact seven female victims ranging in age from 36 to 56 years old. He would repeatedly send the victims unwanted, sexually explicit messages, photos, and videos. In addition, he would leave sexually explicit objects at three of the victims’ places of employment.

The investigation was conducted by the Westlake Police Department with assistance from Lakewood Police Department and Brecksville Police Department.

On June 12, 2025, Robert Hocevar pleaded guilty to the following charges:

  • One count of Burglary (F2)
  • Two counts of Burglary (F3)
  • Three counts of Menacing by Stalking (F4) – three counts with sexual specifications
  • Three counts of Telecommunications Harassment (F5)
  • Three counts of Unauthorized Use of Computer, Cable, or Telecommunications Property (F5)
  • One count of Possessing Criminal Tools (F5)

Additionally, he must register as a Tier I sex offender.

He will be sentenced July 7 at 8:30 a.m.

In 2008, Hocevar repeatedly called a female victim and asked inappropriate sexually explicit questions. He was convicted of one count of telecommunications harassment and one count of menacing by stalking and was sentenced to nine months in prison. In 2015, Hocevar called four female victims and made inappropriate sexually explicit statements. He was convicted of three counts of telecommunications harassment and was sentenced to one year in prison. In 2020, Hocevar called and texted multiple female victims and made inappropriate sexually explicit statements. He was convicted of two counts of menacing by stalking and was sentenced to six months in prison.
